What would you do with the money?

Question of the day: what would you do if you won the lottery?

If I won the lottery, I have no idea what I would do with most of the money. I would for sure start Affirmations Coffee though. I would pay off all of my debt, go to school, and finish my degree. Truth is, I’ve never wanted to be rich; I’ve only ever wanted to make the world a better place. I have always loved making other people happy, making them smile, and helping them feel good about who they are. I like to look at myself as an ENFPreneur.

My Myers Briggs personality type is ENFP a.k.a. the encourager. I’m an aspiring entrepreneur so I combined the two. My whole business is based on building people up and encouraging them. If I won the lottery, I would do everything I could to help build up the world. Next, I would save some of the winnings for if and when I have a wife and family. I want to be able to leave an inheritance for my children and my children’s children (Proverbs 13:22). I also want to help my family and friends out as much as possible.

If I had kids I wouldn’t spoil them just because I could. I mean, I would be their father, always wanting to give them their heart’s desire, and saying yes as often as possible. Nevertheless, I would still want them to work for the things that they wanted (Proverbs 22:6). Money doesn’t make you who you are, rich or poor. Your thinking does (Proverbs 23:7). We should always do whatever we can do to make the world a better place. We should also have to work for the things that we want, and help out those who are in need.

I would tithe on the money from the lottery, because we are supposed to tithe on our income (Numbers 18:21). After all, our blessings come from God, and winning the lottery would be a huge blessing. God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7). We don’t tithe because God needs it; He is the owner of all wealth. Tithing helps you among with many others in multiple ways.

I would also have some fun with the money! God wants us to live life to the full (John 10:10). But I honestly don’t know what I would do besides buy a new car. It is difficult for me to think of something to buy that only fills one purpose; to have fun with. I am usually a very frugal person; especially because I have a very low income right now. It’s hard to imagine spending money like that! I might buy a state of the art computer. Or, all of the fancy home coffee equipment would be nice; a chemex, an espresso machine, and the like.

Maybe there won’t be a lot left after all of the things I have listed above. Some of those things might sound silly, but I’m a pretty laid back kind of person. I also know that no matter what, money changes a person. I really hope that I would only change for the better. Yet, if I changed for the worse, I would want everyone I know to call me out on it!

So, what would you do if you won the lottery? Would you buy a new house? Buy a boat? Quit work? Start a business? Travel the world? The world can be your oyster. How will you search for the pearl? I’d love to hear your thoughts, ideas, and dreams.

You are awesome! God knows it and so should you!
