This thought of mine relates very closely to Shaylee’s blog that she posted a few weeks ago about how we choose to perceive things.
In recent months I have been going through some trials, and some of them have been self inflicted ones because of the choices I made. One of the choices I made was to just let life pass me by and not do anything to change the bad situation I was in. But recently I was all alone at home (which hardly ever happens) feeling particularly low and I was tired of it!! I had been praying to God and meditating on life, when I realized I have the choice to be positive or negative. I have the choice to be happy or sad. I have the choice to choose what offends me. I have the choice to live life to the fullest or just let life happen and let it pass me by.
With these thoughts on my mind, I have been making the conscious decision to be happy and positive in life even when things I don’t want or expect happen. I have been choosing to push away negative thoughts and focus on positive ones and the good things in life. I am doing my best to take my thoughts into captivity (2 Corinthians 10:5). When we take our thoughts into captivity we are making the choice about what we want to think about and how we want to go about any particular situation we are in. It really is mind over matter. We make the choice with our thoughts to make a situation better or worse. Choose to always look on the bright side of things and realize that with your choices you can make big changes.
Deuteronomy 30:19 says: “… I (God) have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life…” God gives us free moral agency and therefore the ability to think and make decisions. We can choose to be pessimistic and unhappy or we can choose to be optimistic and happy. You can choose to make everyday the best day ever. You can choose to live your life to the fullest. So why wouldn’t you? Use your power to take your thoughts into captivity and be a creator in all situations to make the situation better. Make this positive choice for you, those around you and God. We have the power of choice!
You are awesome! God knows it, and so should you!
