Who Do You Know?
Today I’m going to let you know a little bit more about myself (Cody Martin). I’ve been noticing more and more recently that I am not a detail oriented person at all. I am great at big picture stuff but really bad at small detail oriented jobs. That being said I’ve been able to move far (in my opinion) in the process of starting Affirmations Coffee. But I would be greatly lying if I said I had done it by myself. I have mentioned before some of the people that have helped me out, but with today’s theme of wisdom I wanted to give you this quote “sometimes moving forward in life isn’t about what you know, but more so who you know”.
Like I said earlier, I’m not a detail type of guy, but I came up with the idea for Affirmations Coffee and I’ve been able to get so many amazing people to get behind me, back me up, and encourage me! Larisa helps me edit my blogs after they’ve been written and edited my ebook “Be Awesome! One Week To A Better You“. Jonathon Magee helped me format it and add pictures to it.
I’ve also had people help me make the logo, the website, write guest blogs for me, and have just been encouraging me!
Affirmations Coffee will start, but I can’t take the credit for it. It will all be thanks to the people I know not because of what I know.
I write all of this because you need to remember that you might not know somethings, moving forward in life has a lot to do with who you know and networking. I’ve become known as the coffee guy because pretty much anytime I meet someone and they ask me what I do for a living I always say “I work with people who have mental and physical disabilities, but I’m in the process of starting my own coffee shop”. It’s an easy way for me to start a conversation and they think that it’s interesting and offer to help me any way that they can.
At the same time, you will have knowledge of some sort that other people won’t have, so you will be able to help them out as well and be able to do something for them. It may not be right away, but you will be able to return the favor to the people who help you out.
I want to encourage you to go out and meet new people and have fun! At a social gathering go start talking to people you don’t know, or don’t know super well. This will also help stretch out your comfort zone and help you move forward with this exercise also!
You are awesome! God knows it and so should you!

Happy Sabbath, Cody!
